Every year, world over, 16th April is observed as World Voice Day to celebrated the phenomena of the human voice. The celebrations started in Brazil with the Brazilian Society of Laryngology and Voice marking National Voice Day on 16th April 1999. Many countries followed suit and in 2002, the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery officially recognized this day as “World Voice Day”. The objective of this celebration was to highlight the importance of voice as a communication tool and spread global awareness regarding preventing voice problems, training and maintaining the artistic voice and teaching professional voice users how to take care of their voice. Each year the World Voice Day organization brings out a theme or motto to highlight some aspect of voice care or rehabilitation. Every year several centres, hospitals and voice clinics hold activities to commemorate this day. We, at the APSI, share here some of the activities going on in India for World Voice Day.
