“World Voice Day”, was observed in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery Department, on 16 th of April, at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Assam.
Every year on 16th of April, it is celebrated worldwide as an initiative to emphasise on the significance of human voice in everyday life.
This year the theme was
“ Caring for our voices”.
This theme was chosen by the Voice Conmittee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery.
Lectures on awareness for prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of various voice disorders were given by all the faculties and the Speech Therapist.
I believe, we could pass on the message of importance of voice care and awareness, to all the patients present there.
World voice day was celebrated at Guwahati with a poster campaign to create awareness about voice care. Interviews on popular vernacular TV channels and newspapers were undertaken . There was good feedback from the public to these endeavours.
As a part of World Voice Day celebrations on 19th April 2026 Launching of Professional Voice Care Society of India was initiated at Virinchi hospital Hyderabad by a team of Laryngologists, Voice Therapists, Voice coaches, Movie artists, Playback singers.
On the occasion of World Voice Day on 16th April,2026, a series of activities were organized in Otorhinolaryngology Department of KIMS to promote awareness about voice health and its significance.
Banners highlighting the importance of vocal well-being were displayed at key locations throughout the hospital to engage patients, visitors, and staff. An awareness program was conducted for patients and professional voice users, focusing on preventive care, early identification of voice disorders, and the importance of seeking timely medical advice.
In addition, a symposium was arranged for postgraduate students, providing a platform for academic discussion and knowledge sharing on various aspects of voice care and management. The session encouraged active participation and fostered a deeper understanding of the subject. The event concluded with a high tea, allowing attendees to interact informally and reflect on the discussions.
The session was concluded with a brief address by Dr. K.K Samantaray, Professor and HOD of department of Otorhinolaryngology, KIMS, emphasizing the significance of World Voice Day and elaborating on this year’s theme, reinforcing the need for continued awareness and care for vocal health.

The event was dedicated to recognizing the complexity of the human voice and how we should take care of it. The session further educated the audience on essential vocal hygiene, emphasizing hydration, voice rest and avoiding vocal strain.
The event concluded with a tribute to the legendary Asha Bhosle, celebrating her unparalleled contributions to the world of music.
